Vespa & Film - Over 50 Years of Style on Screen
On August 20th the Italian Film Society kicked off a month long film festival dedicated to the ever iconic Vespa scooter. All films were free (yes that's right), courtesy of Vespa, Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Maney Publishing and were screened in the ecclectic little scooter cafe, Scooterworks, on Lower Marsh Street.
VESPA & FILM – Over 50 Years of Style on Screen
The Italian Film Festival commemorated the two-wheeled embodiment of the dolce vita – the Vespa – with a retrospective at Scooterworks, London’s coolest scooter café.
Vespa’s elevation to style icon came in 1953 with Roman Holiday, in which two other icons, Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, take to the streets of Rome on a Vespa. While Peck was falling for Hepburn, the rest of the world was falling for the Italian scooter – and the love affair has continued on the silver screen ever since. To honour Vespa’s phenomenal on-screen history the Italian Film Society hosted a series of screenings, from Fellini’s La Dolce Vita to Nanni Morretti’s Caro Diario.
Vespa - An authentic style and design icon, a living legend and never-ending tale of romance and freedom.
