Synopsis:
Power, money and blood: these are the 'values' that the residents of the province of Naples and Caserta confront everyday. They have practically no choice and are forced to obey the rules of the 'system' the Camorra. Only a lucky few can even think of leading a 'normal' life.
Five stories are woven together in this violent scenario, set in a cruel and ostensibly invented world, but one that is deeply rooted in reality. Based on the controversial, best selling novel of the same name by Roberto Saviano.
Although mob movies are a dime a dozen, Gomorrah enters as a gangster epic with freshness and is a unique addition to the genre. Martin Scorsese is now officially backing the film and when it is released in the U.S. in February it will be titled “Martin Scorsese presents....” Additionally, the author, Roberto Saviano, who is only 28, has received death threats from the Comorra for his expose and is permanently under police protection.
